This is a very detailed 1" scale switch stand made mostly of lost wax cast silicon bronze parts. There is some drilling and filing to make this kit, but no machining. There is some soldering as well to add the target to the mast. The instructions will tell you how to make this into a spring switch so that you can run your trains through the switches without having to get out and change them every time. It is also very sturdy, but must be treated with some care, as it will not stand up to large feet that are unaware of its whereabouts.
